Living the 4th Vow

After taking 3 vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, the members of the Order of St. Camillus, “the Camillians,” also take a 4th vow: “To Serve the Sick – even with Danger to One’s own Life.” It is this vow to serve, heedless of the danger to one’s self, that propels today’s Camillians to run to human calamity wherever it happens.

Providing Relief

SOS DRS brings spiritual, psychological and material assistance to the victims of natural and man-made disasters. Plunging in to begin relief efforts when all civilized infrastructure has been swept away by flood or hurricane, when disease begins to spread and safety compromised by the absence of authority, SOS DRS and Camillian Disaster Service International mobilizes and acts.

Worldwide Impact

SOS DRS receives details of needs by fellow Camillians throughout the world where disasters have happened, and leveraging the presence of 1200 members of the Order in 25 countries, is able to vastly increase the impact of the dollars given by Catholics here in the U.S.A. by relying on members of the Order already on the ground in affected areas!
