Republic of Georgia – “La Casa della Nonna,” “Grandmother’s House,” a center funded by SOS DRS

These are pictures of my December 2013 trip to the Republic of Georgia to visit “La Casa della Nonna,” “Grandmother’s House,” a center funded by SOS DRS that provides psychological and arts education services along with emotional and spiritual support to the children suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Dysfunction due to the forced evictions of their families from their homes by Russian troops. Located in a refugee camp that is “home” to approximately 200 families, Grandmother’s House helps 80 youngsters aged 6-18 to recover their sense of belonging and self-worth by engaging them in crafts and music classes. The children performed folk dances, staged marionette shows, and sang beautiful songs – all for me, their honored guest from America!
